Readiness to fly is individual

Timing depends on the procedure, recovery and complications; one interval does not fit everyone. Obtain advice from the surgeon or treating clinician before returning.

Discuss travel risks

Surgery and prolonged immobility during travel can increase clot risk. A clinician assesses your individual risk and prevention. Do not start aspirin, anticoagulants or other prevention on your own.

Arrange airline assistance in advance

For mobility support or medical needs, check the airline’s current documentation and assistance process. A doctor’s letter does not automatically replace airline requirements.

Records and continuing care

Obtain the discharge summary, procedure report, results and reconciled medicine list. Arrange a clinician at home, the next review and hospital contact process in advance.

Do not wait if a complication is suspected

Tell the clinic about new or worsening symptoms. Seek local urgent care for an emergency. Do not delay necessary care for a flight or a scheduled online consultation.
