Prepare one up-to-date list

List each medicine’s name, strength, schedule and purpose, plus allergies and past adverse reactions. Include non-prescription medicines, vitamins and herbal products. Share the list with each specialist.

When starting a medicine

Ask its purpose, how to take it and which effects to watch for. Request interpretation and written clarification of unclear instructions. Do not use another patient’s prescription.

When medicines are added or changed

Ask the pharmacist to check compatibility, duplication and possible interactions against your existing list. Do not assume whether an old medicine continues; agree this with the treating team.

Before discharge

Reconcile old and new prescriptions: obtain a written list of what continues, changes or ends. Ask about storage, transport and availability at home. Do not choose extra doses yourself.

Know whom to contact

Record how to contact the clinic about questions or unexpected effects. For severe or rapidly worsening illness, seek urgent care rather than waiting for a messenger reply. Maya helps interpret instructions and organise questions; the doctor prescribes.

Maya is a medical travel coordination service, not a hospital or diagnostic provider. Website information does not replace a medical consultation. For an emergency, contact local emergency services.
